Abia (with stick) leads Mubiru to a truck after caning him

Two traditional
diviners from Buganda, on Friday, learnt the hard way that you do not
mess around with women in Arua and get away unscathed, more so if the
district’s Woman MP, Christine Abia, is in town.
A stick-wielding Abia led a brigade of local female politicians into a shrine where the diviners were allegedly conducting pipe-smoking sessions with 11 naked women, including a breastfeeding mother.
The Police identified the witchdoctors as Haruna Mubiru aka Uncle Medie from Kawempe, Kampala and Matovu Mohammed from Masaka.
Arua Hill division chairman Romano Matua, said they were inspecting the homesteads of councillors and division employees when they found signposts advertising witchdoctors in Ozua cell.
“When I entered the shrine, I found naked women smoking pipes. I ran out to mobilise my team to arrest them, but some women quickly dressed up and fled,” he narrated.
The first shrine raided was Mubiru’s, where four women were arrested together with the diviner. The women councillors demanded that he smokes the pipe naked as he does to women. Mubiru resisted and began fighting with the women politicians. But the situation dramatically changed when Abia arrived at the scene. The group started to rain slaps on Mubiru while undressing him by force, forcing the chairman to intervene as the diviner cried.
The diviners and their clients were eventually taken to the Police for interrogation. Josephine Angucia, the Police spokesperson for West Nile, said the witchdoctors would be charged with indecent assault and theft by trickery, while the female clients would be treated as unsuspecting victims.
