The father and the brother of a teenage girl have been arrested for
allegedly throwing acid on a classmate in junior college. An employee of
the two suspects has also been arrested.
The injured boy, Abhishek Ashok Bhat (17) of Krishna residency,
Uttam Nagar, filed a complaint at Bharati Vidyapeeth police station.
Police said he claims he likes the girl and her father says Bhat had
been pestering her. Police on Saturday produced Nilesh Babulal Wani, son
Prithviraj of Sitashankar apartment, Modakwasti, and their employee
Nasir Karim Shaikh of Pimpri, in court. They were remanded in police
custody till April 15.
Sub-inspector Subhash Mahale said, "Bhat studies with Wani's
daughter in Class XI at Sinhagad College and they know each other. Bhat
says he likes her. But Wani says Bhat had been troubling her due to
which she did not attend college for six months."
"Wani and his son called Bhat and took him to their garage in
Datta Nagar chowk, Jambhulwadi, on Thursday evening. Here, they along
with Shaikh beat him with a cricket stump and threw acid on his body.
Bhat received major injuries and is admitted to hospital," said
