Former FDC leader Kizza Besigye addresses a press conference in Kampala recently. Left is Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago.

Former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) president Rtd Dr. Kiiza Besigye has been arrested at Mini-Price along Ben Kiwanuka street in downtown Kampala.
He is being detained at Central Police Station (CPS).
Besigye’s arrest comes a day after Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago was arrested at his home in Rubaga Division and detained in Naggalama, Mukono district.
Lukwago is accused of inciting violence and disobeying statutory duty under Section 116 of the Penal Code Act. He was released last night. However, the police rearrested him on his way to the CIID offices.
Besigye was reportedly going to have lunch in Nakasero Market when police intercepted him.
Business came to a standstill at Ben Kiwanuka street (Kikubo) as Kiiza Besigye and the police scuffled with the latter tried to tow away his car. Many people were seen on top of buildings making noise and hurling insults at the police.
Police is now involved in running battles with supporters of the former FDC boss.
