Two Brothers Killed In House Fire

fires

Fire has gutted a grass thatched hut in Soroti district burning two brothers to death. The deceased are 4-year-old Samuel Egwau and his 6-year-old brother Joshua Olep, both residents of Amotot village in Kamuda Sub County Soroti district.
Ayub Waiswa, the Criminal Investigations Officer Soroti Central Police Station says that the fire started at midnight when Jane Anyigo, the father of the boys was away from home.
The father of the fire victims is on remand at Soroti central prison for alleged defilement. Waiswa says they are holding Anyigo, the mother of the fire victims to help police with investigations.
He says that Anyigo will be given chance to explain where she was when the fire broke out. Joseph Orwachu, an uncle to the deceased all the household property was reduced to earth.
According to Orwachu by the time he learnt about the fire it was too late to rescue his nephew and the household property. He says Anyigo showed up when the fire had burnt the house to ashes.
Orwachu suspects that the fire could have been started by one of Anyigo’s lover who could have been enraged when he didn’t find her at home.
Peter Oringo, the area LC5 councilor describes the incident as unfortunate. Oringo blames the death of the siblings on their mother who he says is caught up in love triangle.
The bodies of the minor are lying in Soroti Municipal Mortuary awaiting postmortem
