Mr Odongo said the old man was staying with his grandson in the same house. By the time of the accident, his grandson had gone to the club at Busolwe town. Police declined to reveal the names of the deceased’s grandson, who is already in police custody on claims that it would sabotage its investigations.
According to Mr Odongo, investigations indicate that the fire was caused by a burning charcoal stove left by the deceased’s grandson, who locked the old man in the house.
“We have arrested the deceased’s grandson who left a burning charcoal stove in the house and locked the old man in the house. We need him to help us in our investigation,” he said.
Police say they are holding him on allegations of negligence
