President Museveni has promoted 4,248 police officers as the Uganda Police Force celebrates 100 years since it was formed.
The promotions were communicated on Thursday evening by Mr Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson, who has also been promoted from Assistant Commissioner to Commissioner.

Mr Enanga said President Museveni renewed contracts of seven Assistant Inspector Generals of Police, promoted 355 senior officers to various ranks and confirmed 58 Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police to the rank of Assistant Superintendent.
The promotions are with immediate effect from October 1, 2014.
Most of the senior officers at or above the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police, who were promoted, have been occupying positions in acting capacity after new directorates were created a year ago.

Some of them include Senior Commissioner Joseph Mugisa, the head of police Fire Directorate and Senior Commissioner Stephen Kasiima, the director of traffic and road safety, who have been promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police.
