The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has
dismissed reports indicating that sacked Cranes Coach Bobby Williamson
is planning to take matters to the Courts of law.
Former Cranes Coach Bobby Williamson
Alex Luganda, Head of the Federations’ legal team told the media on
Monday that there is no way Williamson can take FUFA to court because
his contract was not terminated. Instead, according to Luganda, the
Scottish-born coach was given a termination notice. Luganda says FUFA
did not breach any contract when it gave the coach a notice early this
month, insisting that the federation endeavored to give a three months
notice.
The lawyer explained that is speaking to Bobby’s representatives and
not the coach himself. He says there is no reason why people should
speculate that Bobby is suing FUFA, adding that some people, whom he did
not name, are capitalizing on the issue to gain mileage as they prepare
to take on Lawrence Mulindwa for the FUFA presidency.
Bobby Williamson was sacked two weeks ago although FUFA does not
indicate if it was failure to register good results or any other
matters. Williamson who had been with the Cranes team for four years was
axed a few days after the team’s return from Liberia where they lost
2-0 in a 2014 World Cup qualifier.
Luganda explained that although sorting out Bobby’s issue has no time
limit, they are doing everything possible to get him sorted and perhaps
pay him for the three months so that it’s a closed chapter.
Already over 10 coaches have applied for the position to replace the Scotsman.
