Mudslides hit Bududa again, bury two villages

Namirumba and Matuwa villages, which officials say have a combined population of more than 1, 000 people, were flattened at around 3pm on Saturday, according to Bududa district chairman John Bosco Nambeshe.
Huge stretching cracks were found in the two parishes, which both sit on the ridge of Mt Elgon, during a recent hazard mapping by Uganda Red Cross Society and Ministry of Disaster Preparedness.
Mr Nambeshe could not confirm any fatality figures. Other sources say nine injured persons were being taken for treatment at Bududa hospital.
