At least seven people are confirmed dead after a fuso truck
they were traveling in rammed into a stationery trailer along the
Soroti-Lira highway. 5 others sustained serious injuries.
Accidents in Uganda have been very rampant
Juma Hassan Nyene, the police spokesperson for East Kyoga region
explains that the truck registration number UAL 468L was heading for
Ochero cattle market in Kaberamaido district when it suddenly hit
another truck registration number UAM 376F at Otuboi trading centre. The
tragedy occurred at 5:00 am today.
The Driver is currently on the run. However, the dead are identified
as Catherine Ayago a resident of Atiiri, Samuel Ssebado and Sam Odele,
residents of Kumi and Florence Apeduno, a resident of Gweri Sub County.
Two others remain unidentified.
The injured are identified as John Omukasi 52, Alfred Erangu, 23, Emmanuel Erangu 18 and Josephine Apio.
Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing.
